Open .heic files online

To open a .heic file in your browser, press Open editor on the photo editor, then choose File > Open and pick your file. On 2026-10-26 we opened an 800 x 500 HEIC (HEVC) file on anyedit.app and it showed as one Background layer with the right size and colors. We drew a brush stroke on it and exported it with File > Export > Export As as PNG: a valid 800 x 500 RGB image with the stroke in it. HEIC is read-only: you cannot save a new .heic. The Export As list offers PNG, JPG, WebP, TIFF, TGA and ICO, and Save As wrote a .psd file, so use this page to view a HEIC and convert it to another format; only PNG export was tested. Our test file was made on a Mac from a simple graphic, not a photo from an iPhone, so we have not checked photo orientation, color profiles, Live Photos or large files. Nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up.

Opened a .heicWorksAn 800 x 500 HEIC (HEVC, 1.9 KB) made on a Mac with the sips tool from a PNG of three color bars, a white square and a yellow circle opened as one Background layer. The document showed 800 px x 500 px, RGB/8. Sampled colors were within one step per channel of the PNG we started from, which is expected for a lossy format.
Edited itWorksWe painted a black brush stroke across the orange bar. The stroke showed on the canvas and the document was marked as edited.
Exported as PNGWorksFile > Export > Export As > PNG downloaded anyedit-sample.png (16.8 KB). The file command and the macOS sips tool read it as an 800 x 500 8-bit RGB PNG. The orange, navy, teal, white and yellow samples matched the source within one step, and about 5,200 pixels were near black where we painted.
Saved as .heicNot supportedNot possible. The Export As format list is PNG, JPG, WebP, TIFF, TGA and ICO, with no HEIC. File > Save As did not ask for a format: the tab became anyedit-sample.psd and the status bar said Saved anyedit-sample.psd.
A photo from an iPhoneNot tested yetNot tested. Our file is a flat graphic made on a Mac, so we have not checked rotation from the camera, Display P3 color, HDR, Live Photo or multi-image files, or the 12-megapixel size.

The photo editor with a test .heic open and edited: three vertical color bars (orange, navy, teal), a yellow circle, a white square in the middle and a black brush stroke on the orange bar

FAQ

How do I open a HEIC file in the browser?
Press Open editor on the photo editor, choose File > Open and pick your .heic file. On 2026-10-26 a HEIC file made on a Mac opened this way with the right size and colors.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG here?
Yes. Open the file, then File > Export > Export As > PNG. Our exported PNG matched the colors of the source within one step. JPG, WebP, TIFF, TGA and ICO are listed too, but Not tested yet for HEIC.
Can I save my edits as a HEIC file?
No. HEIC is read-only here. We found no HEIC option: Export As lists PNG, JPG, WebP, TIFF, TGA and ICO, and Save As wrote a .psd file.
Will it open photos from my iPhone?
Not tested yet. Our test file was a simple graphic made on a Mac, not an iPhone photo, so photo orientation, Display P3 color and Live Photos are unchecked. Keep your original.
Is my HEIC file uploaded?
No. It is read by code running in your browser.
