ArtCraft apps: open-source alternatives to Adobe, Office and AutoCAD

ArtCraft is a suite of 12 free, open-source editors, each built as an alternative to well-known software such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Excel and AutoCAD. You can open every one of them here, in your browser, or get the official desktop download.

All 12 apps

“Open online” goes to the AnyEdit page for that editor, with a button to start it. “Official download” goes to the app’s own page on getartcraft.com. The projects describe themselves as young, so check each app’s own status before you rely on it for important work.

GridCraft: a free Excel alternative

GridCraft is the ArtCraft spreadsheet app. It uses XLSX as its native format, supports formulas, tables, charts and PivotTables, and reads and writes CSV and TSV. Open it in your browser with no install: your workbook stays on your device. For what we tested and the known issues, see the spreadsheet editor page and the GridCraft page. For very large workbooks, the desktop app is the better fit.

What you should know

FAQ

Are the ArtCraft apps free?
Yes. They are free and open source. Using them on AnyEdit needs no account and no payment.
Are they open source? Which license?
Yes. The projects are published at github.com/storytold under MIT or Apache-2.0, as their own documentation says. You can read the source and the license files.
Are my files uploaded when I use an app on AnyEdit?
No. Each app runs in your browser and reads your file on your device. Your file is not sent to our servers. You can confirm this in your browser developer tools, Network tab.
What is the difference between the online and desktop versions?
The online version runs in your browser tab with nothing to install, and it is the same engine as the desktop app. The desktop app runs natively on your computer, opens files straight from disk, and suits very large files and long sessions. The online version needs a desktop browser and downloads the editor the first time you open it.
Is ArtCraft, or “Adobe Craft”, made by Adobe?
No. ArtCraft is a separate open-source project. Some people search for it as “Adobe Craft” or “GetCraft apps” because its apps are built as alternatives to Adobe software. It is not an Adobe product.
Is AnyEdit the official ArtCraft site?
No. AnyEdit is an independent site that hosts unmodified web builds of the open-source apps. The official project site is getartcraft.com.
Can I get the desktop apps from AnyEdit?
No. We do not host or forward installers. The download links on this page go to the official project pages.
